About our youthspace

Welcome to Hej! The first completely free, open and safe space in Lublin created specifically for young people aged 10–30.

This is not an ordinary institution. It is a place powered by the energy of young people. Here, you can develop your passions, learn new things, organise your own events or simply drop by to relax with a cup of hot coffee or tea.

How did it all begin?

The space was established as part of the European Youth Capital 2023 celebrations and continues to operate thanks to the support of the City of Lublin. Since 2025, we – the Ulica Krótka Association – have been running the space until 2030. We support the development of youth initiatives and create an environment that encourages integration and social engagement.

Our mission is to support your ideas. We believe that young people know best what they need, which is why you decide what Hej! looks like and what happens here. It is more than just four walls – it is a community where dreams become reality.

What can you find here?

We offer a versatile space divided into different areas, so everyone can find a place that suits their needs. Whether you need a quiet place to study, somewhere to rehearse or a space to meet up with friends, you are welcome here.

The space is divided into three functional areas available to everyone:

  • Main Hall: A space designed for both individual and group work, as well as organising events. It is equipped with tables, seating and a projector with a screen. You can also enjoy table football, a small library, board games, and a variety of office and art supplies.
  • Kitchen: A fully equipped room where you can prepare your own meals. You can use a range of household appliances, including a hob, oven, fridge, dishwasher and microwave. We also provide free, unlimited access to coffee, tea and basic food supplies.
  • Quiet Study and Relaxation Room: A cosy space designed for studying or unwinding. It features a sofa, a TV and a PlayStation 5 console.

Accessibility at Hej!

Our space is adapted to accommodate people with disabilities, and we strive to make it as accessible as possible within our means. We want everyone to feel comfortable here and be able to enjoy the activities we organise. We are open to everyone and aim to create a welcoming environment that also meets the needs of those who require additional support.

There are a few steps at the entrance to Hej!, but we provide alternative accessibility solutions. We have purchased a ramp that allows wheelchair users to enter the space. Inside, the floor is mostly flat and spacious, with no thresholds or steps between rooms, making it easier for wheelchair users to move around freely. The colours used in our graphics are clear and high-contrast, making them easier to distinguish for people with specific visual needs.

Our bathroom is large and spacious, with grab bars installed next to both the toilet and the washbasin. There is also a doorbell button at the entrance to the space, which allows visitors to notify our staff when they need assistance entering the building.

We also organise sessions with a Polish Sign Language (PJM) interpreter at our space. The interpreter is also available during selected events. Information about when you can meet the interpreter is included in our monthly schedule.
